Other Poker versions

Five Card Draw

Five Crad Draw is probably the oldest und best-known version of Poker. It's played without community cards, each player recieves their individual hand.

Each player recieves five cards facing-down and the first betting round begins. Players can now check, raise or fold. As soon as the first betting round is over, the remaining players can change cards. They choose which cards they want to put down and are given new cards in return. After swaping the cards the second betting round begins (which goes exactly like the first round).
The player forming the best Poker hand wins the pot.

Five Card Stud

Five Card Stud has the exact same rules as Seven Card Stud, but is played with five cards instead of seven. The game begins by each player paying his Ante. Afterwards, each player recieves one card facing-up and one card facing-down and the first betting round begins. The 3rd, 4th and 5th cards are all dealt facing-up, with a new betting round starting after any of these cards have been dealt. Thus, if players remain until the end of the game, they're alltogether holding four cards facing-up and one card facing-down. After the last betting round, the winner of the pot gets determined, which is the player forming the best Poker hand.

Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo

In this version of Seven Card Stud also the lowest Poker hand can win half of the pot. The best Poker hand always wins the pot, but has to share it with the lowest hand. However, the lowest hand must only consist of five cards with value 8 or less. If there is no Low Hand, only the best Poker hand wins the pot. The course of the game is the same as in classical Seven Card Stud.

Razz

Razz is a version of Seven Card Stud, where the lowest Poker hand wins the pot. Unlike in other versions of Poker with Low Hand, in Razz the lowest Poker hand always wins the pot. In Razz there is no Flushes or Straights, thus the best possible Low Hand is A-2-3-4-5. Aces are the lowest cards. The course of the game is the same as in classical Seven Card Stud.

Mixed Games

In Mixed Games different versions of Poker are played alternately by the same players at the same table.

The most popular form of Mixed Games is H.O.R.S.E., which is also played at the WSOP.
Here, another version of Poker gets played after every hand. I starts with Hold'em, followed by Omaha Hi/Lo, then Razz, then Seven Card Stud and finally Eight-or-better (which is just another expression for Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo). Afterwards, it starts all over again by a round of Hold'em. All different Poker versions are played as Fixed Limit.

Another Mixed Games version is 8-Game-Mix, consisting of 8 different versions of Poker, that rotate after a number of hands. In 8-Game-Mix the following Poker versions are played alternately: Limit 2-7 Triple Draw, Limit Hold'em, Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, Razz, Limit Seven Card Stud, Limit Stud Hi/Lo, No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha. After a certain number of hands the game automatically jumps on to the next version.

2-7 Triple Draw

In this version of Poker, also known as "Deuce to Seven", the lowest Poker hand wins the pot. Aces are the highest cards, and unlike to other versions with Low Hands, straights and Flushes are possible. Thus, the best possible Poker hand in in 2-7 Triple Draw is 2-3-4-5-7. Players alltogether can change their cards three times.
2-7 Triple Draw is played with six players. First, each player recieves five cards and the first betting round begins. Afterwards, players can swap cards they don't want for new ones. The second betting round begins and is followed by another change of cards. Then the third round begins and is followed again by the last change of cards. Finally, the 4th and last betting round begins, which is followed by the showdown. The best Low Hand wins the pot.

2-7 Single Draw

2-7 Single Draw is a version of "Deuce to Seven". The betting rounds are the same as in Triple Draw, but cards can be changed only once during the entire game, after the first betting round.

Badugi

Badugi is a version of Poker, which is played as Triple Draw, hence allowing to change cards for three times. Each player only recieves four cards and the lowest hand wins the pot, though Badugi has different rules from the other versions of Poker: Only cards of different values and different colours count as hand, thus a pair or cards of the same colour cancel each other out. So, a Badugi hand can consist of four, three, two or even just one card. The more cards count, the better for the player. The best possible Badugi hand therefore is A-2-3-4 in four different colours.

After each player recieves four cards, the first betting round begins. Afterwards, players can cange cards for the first time. The second betting round begins and is followed by the second change of cards. Then, the third betting round begins. If it's over, players can change cards for the last time. The fourth betting round begins and afterwards, the winner of the pot is determined.
